Exhibitor profile

Apples from Germany. Greenhouses Worldwide.

BayWa Global Produce
Local Partner. Global Concepts.

Using its vision to bring the future into the present day is a key factor driving the business development of the Global Produce business unit (formerly: Fruit). Trends and prospects pertaining to the security of the world’s food supply, the conservation of limited resources such as water and soil, and effective, innovative production methods are paving the way for a future-oriented positioning.

German Apple Business
BayWa is a leading supplier of German premium apples backed by modern storing, sorting and packaging operations. The company provides a wide assortment of modern apple varieties, packaging options and logistics solutions. BayWa works with major retailers in Europe and exports to a number of countries, including Asia.
The company offers conventional apple varieties such as Gala Royal, Elstar, Red Jonaprince, Golden Delicious, Braeburn, Jonagold and Pinova. The variety range also includes famous apples brands such as Kanzi®, Evelina®, Cameo® and Greenstar®. We also offer organic fruit and are the largest suppliers of organic apples in Germany.
BayWa Fruit stands for integrated, sustainable production, traceability, total quality management and a comprehensive residue monitoring in collaboration with approved German laboratories.

Greenhouse Business
As part of a global project, BayWa Global Produce has set itself the task of contributing to the sustainable production of fresh produce with highest quality and safety standards. State-of-the-art glasshouse technology provides possibilities to produce vegetables even in extreme climate zones. Thereby presenting an opportunity to overcome volatilities, to expand a country’s self-sufficiency rate and to provide consumers with safe products from local cultivation. The company follows the principles of “build, own, operate and transfer” (BOOT) to its industrial greenhouse projects.
The flagship project of this strategic focus is located in the United Arabic Emirates (UAE). Up to 5,000 tonnes of aromatic premium tomatoes will be produced annually for the local market through a joint venture with Al Dahra Holding LCC.

Starting its the fruit business in Germany in the early 1920ies, BayWa has been partner of many family-owned farms and began its internationalisation process in 2012 when the New Zealand based company T&G Global joined the Group.
T&G Global Ltd is the market leader in pome fruit in New Zealand and has international trading links to the Asian markets, Europe, Australia and the Americas, making BayWa one of the most important global suppliers in the international pome fruit trade.
By expanding its portfolio in the growth market for exotic speciality fruits through its subsidiary TFC Holland B.V., in particular in the "ready-to-eat" sector, BayWa is strengthening its position as a leading international supplier of exotic and pome fruit.
In 2017, the company has tied up with the Abu Dhabi-based Al Dahra Holding LLC, a leading international agribusiness company, to set up a ground-breaking project in the UAE. The new entity, Al Dahra BayWa Agriculture LLC, operates in the production of premium vegetables like tomatoes using latest greenhouse technologies as well as in the marketing of produce.
