Exhibitor profile

Succesfull Apple Growing- Best Varieties

Feno was founded in the year 1999 by 5 ambitions nurserymen. The name means “improvement and development of new fruit varieties”. With the foundation of Feno the areas “breeding”, “administration of plant breeders rights” and “know how transfers” got separated from the tree nursery production.

Administration of plant breeders’ rights:
Feno manages the licence right of one’s own varieties and such of others breeders- internationally.

Breeding- Selection:
This program aims to breed a new variety, which features similar internal quality as existing commercial varieties but with a different look. Feno works intensively on the improvement in “standard varieties”, which still are the greatest share at new plantations.

Budwood production:
The quality of propagation material is one of the most important factors for the success of a variety or clone. Generally varieties originated by mutation are subject to reversion. Feno has its own budwood orchards for production of propagation material. Propagation material for “unstable” and “lightly unstable” varieties is produced on the basis of a specific propagation scheme. This is important to reach maximum quality. The “stable” and “unstable” varieties produced get the quality label: select line.

We use plant breeders’ rights and trademarks as base for innovative marketing concepts. Overproduction and negative competition can be avoided.

Apple trees can be bought from the own nursery Fruitplant.
