    What is an Ambrosia apple?The Ambrosia apple is an apple variety that was discovered by the Mennell family in Cawston, British Columbia. The original tree was a “chance” seedling, meaning that an apple dropped on the ground and a tree grew from one of the seeds.     On behalf of the Ambrosia® variety owners, the Mennells, Summerland Varieties Corporation  (SVC) grants rights to growers and other third parties to propagate the variety and produce and sell the Ambrosia® apple . In return, the licensees pay licensing fees and royalties to SVC which SVC administers on behalf of the owners.
